Dùn Ara Castle is a medieval ruin situated on a rocky outcrop at Sorne Point on the Isle of Mull's northern coast, overlooking the waters towards Coll and Ardnamurchan. Dating from at least the 14th century, it served as a significant stronghold of the MacKinnon Clan from 1354, though its foundations rest upon an even older dùn dating to the Iron Age or Early Medieval period. The castle comprises the remains of a substantial curtain wall of stone and lime that once enclosed the rock summit, with the most impressive sections preserved on the north-east side. An artificially-constructed harbour with jetty and boat landing on the south-west side testifies to its maritime importance. The site is accessible via a scenic two-mile walk from the Glengorm estate coffee shop.

Aros Castle, also known as Dounarwyse Castle, is a ruined 13th-century fortress located near Salen on the Isle of Mull, overlooking the Sound of Mull. Probably built by the MacDougall lords of Lorn as one of a series of castles intended to control both sides of the Sound, the fortress passed to the MacDonald Lords of the Isles at the start of the 14th century. The MacLeans of Duart eventually acquired it, before it came under Campbell control. The ruins consist of a roofless hall house perched on a rocky headland and defended on the landward side by a ditch and stone wall. Though described as 'ruinous and old' in the 1690s, it remains a striking monument to the strategic importance of the Sound of Mull.

Torosay Castle on the Isle of Mull is a Victorian mansion completed in 1858, designed in Scottish Baronial style by acclaimed architect David Bryce for John Campbell of Possil. Originally named Duart House, it was renamed Torosay to distinguish it from the nearby Duart Castle on the Sound of Mull. The castle stands 1.5 miles south of Craignure and remains owned by the Campbell family, set within 12 acres of spectacular gardens featuring formal terraces with roses and perennials, woodland gardens with pools, alpine collections, and extensive rhododendron plantings. Though currently closed to the public, the castle's picturesque gardens are occasionally open, typically on the first Sunday of each month during the season, offering visitors a glimpse of Highland island life and Victorian architectural heritage.
