Birkhill Castle is an 18th-century stately home located on the banks of the River Tay in Fife, near St. Andrews, serving as the residence of the Earl of Dundee. Set within 1,500 acres of Scottish woodland, farmland, and coastal areas, the castle features 12 bedrooms with views of the estate and River Tay, along with extensive grounds including a tennis court, outdoor swimming pool, driving range, and croquet lawn. The surrounding estate encompasses rare plants and trees in its gardens, with direct access to the Fife Coastal Path, making it an ideal venue for corporate retreats, private gatherings, and weddings.

Balvaird Castle is a late 15th-century L-plan tower house located in the Ochil Hills of Perthshire, south of Abernethy near Cupar. Built around 1500 for Sir Andrew Murray, the castle was extended and remodeled throughout the 16th century by the Murrays of Balvaird. The structure includes inner and outer courtyards, a formal walled garden, and a large walled pleasance, or park. Now in the care of Historic Environment Scotland as a scheduled monument, the exterior remains viewable year-round.

Creich Castle is an impressive L-shaped tower house of the 16th century situated adjacent to a working farm near Creich in Fife, built by the MacDuff Earls of Fife. The castle gained notable historical significance as the birthplace of Mary Beaton, one of the celebrated 'Four Marys' chosen to serve Mary Queen of Scots. The property passed through several notable families including the Liddels and the Beatons, whose association produced Cardinal David Beaton, Archbishop of St Andrews in the 16th century. The castle features a square stair tower in the angle of its L-shaped design with walls that rise impressively above ground level, and is protected as a scheduled monument today.

Monimail Tower stands near the village of Monimail in Fife, Scotland, as a surviving Renaissance palace tower originally a residence of the Archbishops of St Andrews from the 13th century. In the early 17th century, Monimail became a chief seat of the prominent Melville family, and notably hosted Mary, Queen of Scots for dinner on March 23, 1563. Abandoned in the late 17th century with most of the palace subsequently demolished, the remaining tower was restored between 1992 and 1997 by the Monimail Tower Preservation Trust. Today the site features a comprehensive exhibition area on the first floor, offering visitors detailed historical context and archaeological insights into medieval Scottish ecclesiastical and noble life.

Ballinbreich Castle is a captivating 14th-century ruin on the south bank of the River Tay in North Fife, built by the Leslie family, Earls of Rothes. This substantial 15th-century courtyard castle features an L-plan range of three storeys with exceptional masonry workmanship considered unsurpassed in Scotland. The curtain wall encloses a rectangular courtyard with additional ranges of buildings and towers. Mary, Queen of Scots visited the castle in 1563 and 1565, and today visitors access the site via a farm path off the B945 road, approximately three miles east of Cupar, discovering a unique glimpse into medieval Scottish life.

Lordscairnie Castle is a ruined 15th-century tower standing near Moonzie, northeast of Cupar in Fife, constructed around 1500 by Alexander Lindsay of Auchtermoonzie, a descendant of the Earls of Crawford who have held the Cairnie property since 1355. The castle rises four storeys with an attic and features an impressive L-plan design with a stair-wing added in the 16th century, complete with machicolation above the entrance and thick stone walls measuring 5-6 feet wide. Originally situated on an islet in a loch, it is now privately owned but accessible for visitors, and according to local folklore, the castle is said to be haunted by the Earl of Crawford who allegedly plays cards with the devil on New Year's Eve.
