Castillo de Salvatierra stands on the ridge of Sierra de la Villa in Villena, Alicante, at approximately 730 meters altitude on a rocky spur. Built during the 10th century and abandoned in the 14th century in favor of Atalaya castle, this fortress features a rectangular structure measuring approximately 50 meters in length with double-parameter walls built from medium-sized stones and mortar. Archaeological evidence confirms Islamic origins from the Caliphate and Almohad periods continuing through Christian occupation until the 14th century. From its position, the castle commands views of the valleys of Biar, Benejama, and Villena. Currently in ruins with only portions preserved, the site offers free access to visitors.
