Castillo de Fornà is an exceptionally well-preserved medieval fortress positioned on a summit mountain in l'Atzúbia, Alicante, notable for its refined civil and palatial Gothic architecture. Originally built with Islamic-era foundations and part of the Al-Azraq lordship, the castle was conquered by King Jaime I in 1258 and subsequently granted to various nobles, including the Cruïlles family in the 16th century. Its quadrangular floor plan features a central courtyard with corner towers, constructed from rammed earth walls on masonry with brick-framed openings. Restored in 2003, the castle maintains exceptional preservation, making it one of the finest examples of Gothic military architecture in the Valencian Community.
