CASTLES KORTESSEM

Kasteel Dessener in Kortessem, East Flanders, is a fortified castle farm with origins tracing to 1264 when Willem van Dessener built the original fortress. In the 17th century, Field Marshal Wilhelm III de Lamboy, who gained fame during the Thirty Years' War, rebuilt the complex around 1640 into an impressive castle with extended farmyard, now bearing the date 1639 and the heraldic coat of arms of the Lamboy-Bemelberg family.
