Cardoness Castle is a fine example of a late 15th-century Scottish tower house, constructed of stone and set within woodlands near Castle Douglas in Kirkcudbrightshire. The fortified residence belonged to the influential McCulloch family of Galloway, who held historical significance through their support of Scottish throne claims and became known for their colorful reputation in medieval times.
