Castell de Farners exemplifies 11th-12th century fortress design, with its most distinctive feature being a round main tower covering 211 square meters surrounded by crenellated walls and preserved interior rooms. Originally held by the Farners family until the 13th century, the castle features a complex architectural history spanning medieval consolidations through early 18th-century military occupation. Following expert restoration after 1991-1992 excavations, the site now welcomes visitors to explore the tower's perimeter, walk along the parapet, and ascend to an exceptional observation point offering expansive views of Santa Coloma de Farners, the Guilleries mountains, and the la Selva plains. Access is available by car, on foot, or mountain bike via Sant Salvador Park.
