Peñafiel Castle is an iconic medieval fortress in Valladolid province, perched on a narrow hilltop that resembles a ship's keel, creating one of Castile and León's most recognizable silhouettes. Built primarily of Campaspero stone in German Gothic style, this 210-metre-long by 33-metre-wide fortress features a 34-metre-high three-storey keep and a double-wall system with 30 towers. First documented in 943 and reconstructed in the 15th century, the castle now houses the Provincial Wine Museum, blending heritage, landscape, and wine culture. Guided tours showcase the fortress's medieval grandeur, though currently only available in Spanish.
