Castillo Dos Hermanas stands 3 kilometers from Navahermosa in Toledo province, rising dramatically on twin rocky outcrops separated by the Marlín stream. Built between the 11th and 12th centuries, this fortress once protected a small shepherd and beekeeper community with a garrison of 20-30 soldiers. The castle served as either a Knights Templar stronghold forming part of a defensive line around the Montalbán encomienda, or as an Arab outpost guarding the natural frontier of the Toledo Mountains. When the region was pacified in 1444, the garrison disbanded, leading residents to found the nearby town of Navahermosa. Local legend says that on Saint John's Eve, the ghosts of two Moorish sisters haunt the castle ruins.
