Castell de Queralt crowns a rocky ridge at the western extreme of the Queralt mountain range, documented from 960 though possibly dating to the era of Wifred the Hairy. Held by the powerful Queralt lineage from the 11th century onward through various family branches until the 19th century, this castle ruins retain visible sections of residential buildings with characteristic windows and arrow slits from the 13th-14th centuries. Positioned to dominate the entire valley below, the fortress overlooks the nearby Romanesque church of Sant Jaume de Queralt and the chapel ruins of Sant Miquel, together forming an important religious and military complex in the Anoia comarca's medieval heritage.
