The Château de Boistissandeau in Les Herbiers, Vendée, is a Renaissance manor constructed in 1578, representing the architectural sophistication of the late 16th century. This substantial estate features distinctive facades topped with large pepper-pot turrets in pink brick and encompasses a 17-hectare property including formal gardens, kitchen gardens, parkland, meadows, and woodlands. Inscribed in the Supplementary Inventory of Historic Monuments for its architectural and horticultural significance, the château was classified as a Historic Monument in 1958. The eminent naturalist René-Antoine Ferchault de Réaumur frequently visited during the 18th century. Long serving as a retirement home, the property was acquired by the Vendée department in 2003 and now falls under the stewardship of the Intercommunal Community of Pays des Herbiers, offering heritage access to the public.
