Hindsgavl Castle, dating to the 12th century in its earliest form, occupies a distinctive peninsula setting near Middelfart on Funen's northern coast overlooking the Little Belt strait. The present Neoclassical manor was constructed in 1784-85 as an aristocratic residence, retaining its elegant classical facade through modern restoration. Today it operates as a sophisticated hotel and conference center with 120 guest rooms, blending historic ambiance with contemporary amenities. The 165-acre Hindsgavl Dyrehave deer park adjoining the castle offers scenic walking and cycling paths. The castle's romantic park with ancient trees frames views of the Little Belt, and H.C. Andersen famously praised this vista as Funen's most beautiful prospect.
