Balintore Castle near Kirriemuir is a striking Victorian mansion designed in 1859 by architect William Burn, exemplifying Scottish Baronial style with turreted towers, decorative gables, and distinctive architectural features. Built on moorland elevated above Balintore village, the Category A listed structure replaced an earlier sixteenth-century tower house. Though abandoned for decades and deteriorating significantly, the castle underwent comprehensive restoration beginning in 2007 and now operates as self-catering accommodation. Set on a dramatic moorland site in Angus, it offers visitors an authentic experience of Victorian Scottish architecture and the surrounding landscape of northeast Scotland.
