Finlarig Castle is a 17th-century L-plan tower-house built in 1629 by 'Black' Duncan Campbell of Glenorchy, standing on a peninsula between the River Lochay and Loch Tay near Killin. Though the earliest construction periods are unclear, the lower storey indicates origins in the 11th century, with the site held by the Menzies family before becoming part of Campbell estates. The castle was visited by the legendary Rob Roy MacGregor in 1713 and features a stone-lined pit near its north wall used for beheading prisoners of noble blood. Nearby stands the remnants of the Breadalbane Mausoleum, a mock-Tudor chapel erected in 1829, alongside the ruins of an earlier chapel and burial place from 1523.
