Little Cumbrae Castle is a plain 14th-century keep situated on Castle Island (Allin Tuirail), a small tidal island off the east coast of Little Cumbrae in the Firth of Clyde. The castle features vaulted ground floor rooms with first-floor entrance via ladder, great hall and kitchen on the first floor, and a large chamber with garderobe on the second floor. Built as a royal property with the Hunters serving as hereditary keepers, the castle was burned by Cromwell in 1653 and has remained semi-ruinous since. Visitors must monitor tide times before accessing this island location.
