Arnot Tower is a ruined 16th-century fortification near Scotlandwell in Perth and Kinross, dating from approximately 1507, though earlier defences existed around 1400, standing as a four-storey structure with vaulted basement measuring roughly 32 by 26 feet. Built by the Arnot family, whose landholdings date back to 1105, the tower produced notable historical figures including David Arnot, who swore allegiance to King Edward I in 1296, and Robert Arnot, killed at the Battle of Flodden in 1514. Now a scheduled monument, the castle reflects centuries of Arnot family prominence and their enduring connection to the landscape they inhabited before abandoning the old tower around 1700.
