Megginch Castle in Errol, Perthshire, is a Category A listed fortified tower house originally built in the 15th century and substantially rebuilt in the late 16th century around 1575. Situated amongst woodlands in the Carse of Gowrie, the castle features an L-plan tower with subsequent expansions completed between 1707 and 1715. The estate showcases an attractive blend of formal and informal gardens surrounding the tower, including a walled garden, formal parterre, topiary, and yew trees thought to be 1000 years old. The orchard houses two National Plant Collections dedicated to Scottish apples and cider apple varieties, with gardens open on limited days through the Scottish Garden Scheme.
