Barry Castle is a historic ruin in Barry, Wales, originating as a wooden ringwall fortification in the 12th century before being developed into a stone fortified mansion by the de Barry family in the late 13th and early 14th centuries. The ruins include a two-storey gatehouse and lower walls from a hall block that once formed part of a larger courtyard complex with earthwork defences, drawbridge, and portcullis. Damaged during Llywelyn Bren's revolt in 1316, the castle was gradually abandoned after about a century, with the gatehouse serving as a local court until 1720.

East Orchard Castle near St Athan in the Vale of Glamorgan, Wales, is a ruined domestic manor house with origins dating primarily to the 14th century, despite its castle designation. Built by the Berkerolles family following the Norman conquest of Glamorgan in 1091, the site complex includes a manor house, barn, chapel and dovecote. The castle was destroyed during Llywelyn Bren's revolt around 1316 and gradually dismantled from 1756 onwards.
