Castillo de Yanguas dominates a small hill in Soria province with a distinctive rectangular plan featuring four large corner towers topped by crenellations. Likely dating to the 14th century, the fortress was owned by descendants of Navarrese kings before passing to the Duke of Abrantes and later the Arellano family. Built in rammed earth with connecting walls featuring advanced medieval defensive engineering, the castle nearly fell to destruction during the Napoleonic siege in the Spanish War of Independence. Declared Cultural Heritage (Bien de Interés Cultural) in 1949 and recognized as a Historic Site in 1993, the castle represents an important example of fortified palace architecture and continues to receive restoration efforts to preserve its architectural legacy.
