Castell de Milmanda rises prominently at 452 meters elevation in Vimbodí i Poblet within the Conca de Barberà region. This Gothic stone fortress, first documented in 1148, was donated to Arnau de Montpaó before passing to Poblet monks in 1163, who developed it as an agricultural center. The castle features distinctive Gothic architectural elements including defensive towers, vaulted passageways, and pointed arches throughout. Built on foundations of ancient Iberian, Greek, and Roman settlements, Milmanda functioned primarily as a residential dwelling rather than a strategic border fortress, with the monks maintaining ownership and periodic reconstruction until the 19th century.
