Castillo de Villarejo de Salvanés, also known as Torre del Homenaje, is a 13th-century fortress built by the Order of Santiago just 50 kilometers from Madrid. The castle showcases a distinctive architectural design with a central square tower measuring 16 by 22 meters, surrounded by eight cylindrical turrets functioning as buttresses rather than corner towers—an uncommon arrangement in Spanish military architecture. Restored and designated National Historic Heritage Site in 1974, the keep now houses a tourist office and interpretation center, offering visitors insights into its medieval history and panoramic views of the surrounding countryside.
