Castillo de Alboer stands on a prominent hill in southern Villamanrique de Tajo, Madrid, overlooking the Tajo river plain from a chalky cliff. Originally constructed in the 9th century by the emir Mohamed I of Córdoba and rebuilt by the Almoravids during the 12th century, the fortress formed part of a critical defensive triangle for the Order of Santiago alongside the castles of Alharilla and Salvanés. This small fortification served as a strategic outpost during the Emirate, Caliphate, Almoravid, and Almohad periods until its destruction in 1478 during the War of Castilian Succession. Now in ruins with limited architectural elements visible, the site remains freely accessible and reflects centuries of frontier conflict in the Middle March.
