Castillo de Valderrobres in the province of Teruel evolved from a late twelfth-century defensive tower built after the Reconquest, rising above an earlier Muslim fortification called La Peña de Azna Lagaya. The Gothic castle took its current palatial form during the archbishoprics of García Fernández de Heredia and Dalmacio de Mur y Cervellón between 1382 and 1456, when the town remained under Zaragoza's ecclesiastical jurisdiction. The castle features a distinctive hexagonal floor plan with three small crenellated towers on its main facade, commanding views from Valderrobres' highest point. Following restoration completion in 2021, the castle's interior reveals notable spaces including stables, a capitular hall, fireplaces salon, and the Golden Chamber, with status as a Historic-Artistic Monument since 1931.
