The Castillo de Altafría in Valderas, León, is a 12th-century fortress constructed by King Ferdinand II to defend the Cea River valley against rival kingdoms. Built atop the Altafría hill, it once played a crucial defensive role in the medieval landscape. Though partially ruined today, two towers and sections of adobe walls remain standing, reflecting its historical significance as a regional stronghold. The castle is designated a Site of Cultural Interest and protected under Spanish historical heritage law.
