Torre Monreal, a defining symbol of Tudela in Navarra, rose as a vital element of the city's 13th-century defensive ring, though recent research confirms it was built during the Christian period rather than earlier Arab times. Located southwest of Tudela in the Lourdes district, the tower's current distinctive octagonal brick construction dates to the Carlist period. Today transformed into a cultural center, it houses a camera obscura—an optical device projecting real-time 360-degree panoramic views of Tudela onto interior surfaces in 20-minute sessions with historical narration. The tower stands adjacent to the Cathedral and offers visitors an innovative way to experience the city's medieval layout.

Alcazaba de Tudela occupied the strategically vital hill of Santa Bárbara overlooking the Ebro River's passage between Muslim and Christian territories, serving as a crucial fortress from the ninth century through the early twelfth century. The fortress was initially built during Moorish rule and became the capital seat of the Banu Qasi dynasty before passing through the hands of successive taifa kingdoms during the fragmented Islamic period. Following the Christian reconquest in 1119 under Alfonso I the Battler, it became part of the Navarro-Aragonese Crown, strategically dominating one of medieval Spain's most contested frontier regions. Though only archaeological vestiges survive today where a monument to the Sacred Heart now stands, the site remains significant for understanding medieval Iberian power struggles and the architectural legacy of Islamic Navarre.
