Castillo de Trigueros del Valle, popularly known as "El Castillo Encantado" (The Enchanted Castle), rises north of Valladolid between the Pisuerga valley and the Montes Torozos foothills in Castile y León. Rebuilt in the 15th century following earlier foundations, the fortress became notorious for the despotism of its lords, leading to a famous assault by townspeople in 1521 during the Revolt of the Comunidades—an event recreated annually each summer. Now municipally owned, the castle's interior has been restored to house a permanent exhibition featuring sculpture and fantasy artwork by Juan Villa, including dragons, mermaids, and unicorns, creating an imaginative blend of medieval history and contemporary artistic vision.
