Tiedra Castle stands on a hilltop in Valladolid Province near the Zamora border, a medieval fortress dating to the 11th century with its present form completed by the late 13th century. The polygonal enclosure measures 115 meters in perimeter, reinforced by two circular towers and a rectangular keep standing 20 meters high with walls 2.5 meters thick. Historically significant as the seat of nobility including Don Alonso Téllez de Meneses and Don Sancho, Count of Alburquerque, the castle was later seized by King Juan II and granted to his favorite Don Alvaro de Luna. Visitors can climb 33 spiral staircase steps to reach the top for expansive views across the surrounding landscape.
