Castle of Segura de la Sierra occupies a commanding position within the Sierras de Cazorla Segura y Las Villas Natural Park in northeastern Jaén province. Built between the 13th and 14th centuries by Santiago knights over Roman watchtower foundations, the fortress originally served as the seat of the Grand Master of the Order of Santiago. The castle features two consecutive enclosures arranged with a trapezoidal base on an irregular hilltop, with four defensive towers including an impressive keep. Visitors can explore the Torre de Entrada, Patio de Armas, Arab Baths, Hominage Tower, Chapel, Cistern, Refectory, and fortified walkways. Restored in the 1960s after centuries of abandonment, the castle now functions as an interpretation center, offering panoramic views across the Sierra de Segura.
