Castillo de Miramontes Santa Eufemia sits atop a granitic crag at 823 meters altitude in the Sierra de Santa Eufemia, in Córdoba province. This Arab fortress, possibly built on pre-Roman foundations, was rebuilt in the 11th century and later passed to Christian nobility after conquest. The castle features an irregular polygonal layout adapted to the rocky terrain, with numerous towers including the distinctive Tower of Homage, and preserves a historic cistern. Its strategic position dominated passage between the Valley of Los Pedroches and the Valley of Alcudia, controlling routes between Córdoba and Toledo. Though largely ruined today, the site reflects centuries of defensive importance across Islamic and Christian periods.
