Castillo de Villanueva de Jamuz, located in Santa Elena de Jamuz in León's Tierra de La Bañeza region, is a remarkable medieval fortress with deep historical roots. Built by Diego Fernández de Quiñones at the end of the 14th century, it became the residence of the celebrated knight Suero de Quiñones, protagonist of the legendary Paso Honroso tournament of 1434. The castle features a distinctive quadrangular keep measuring nearly 12 meters across with five floors and standing over 21 meters high, decorated with heraldic shields, anchored by an adjoining fortified enclosure with three corner towers and an entrance tower. The masonry construction and architectural details reflect the late medieval period when it served as both a defensive stronghold and noble residence.
