Torreón de los Osorio is a fortified tower located in Turienzo de los Caballeros near Santa Colomba de Somoza in León, Castile and León. This quadrangular stone tower, standing 22 meters high with four floors plus a basement, is all that remains of the medieval Castle of Turgentius from the 14th century. Originally built to guard nearby gold mines and later used by Templar knights to watch over pilgrims heading to Santiago de Compostela, the tower subsequently belonged to the Osorio family, from whom it takes its name. It remains the only preserved medieval civil monument from the 14th century in the Maragatería region, featuring robust masonry construction and multiple domestic rooms within its levels. Visits must be arranged in advance and are free to access.
