Castell de la Punta de n'Amer is a cubic, stone fortress situated on Mallorca's east coast near Sant Llorenç des Cardassar, built between 1693 and 1696. Rising 35 metres high and surrounded by a moat, this sandstone tower served as a critical defence against pirate invasions, equipped with canons to protect the bays of Cala Millor and Sa Coma. During the Spanish Civil War, it functioned as a communications post. Today, the site remains free to visit and offers panoramic coastal views alongside hiking trails through a protected natural reserve. The fortress represents the island's 17th-century maritime heritage and provides visitors with insights into historical coastal defence strategies.
