CASTLES SALAMANCA

The Alcázar de Salamanca is a medieval fortress located at the southwestern edge of Salamanca's historic walled enclosure in Castilla-La Mancha. This stone-constructed defensive structure features characteristic fortress architecture with sturdy walls and remnants of a central tower, representing the military heritage of medieval Salamanca. As part of the city's fortified perimeter, it stands as a testament to the strategic importance of Salamanca during the medieval period, when such fortifications protected regional interests and commercial routes throughout the region.

Torreón Dávila de Cespedosa de Tormes is a 15th-century watchtower located in Salamanca province, overlooking the Santa Teresa reservoir from a hillside position on the town's outskirts. Built by the Dávila family after receiving the lordship from King Henry III in 1393, the tower features rectangular construction in ashlar stone and masonry, crowned with crenellations and machicoulis balconies. The structure exhibits coats of arms identifying past ownership by the House of Alba, the Castro family, and the Dávila lineage. Though now uninhabited and privately owned, the tower remains in reasonably good condition and is accessible to visitors, serving as a significant example of late medieval defensive architecture.
