The Torre del Homenaje (Tower of Homage) stands as the defining feature of Requena's medieval castle, a Muslim fortress originally constructed in the 10th century and reconstructed in ashlar stone at the beginning of the 15th century. Rising 23.5 meters high with dimensions of 16.5 meters wide, the tower features three floors and an underground well accessible from within, decorated externally by braided rope ornamentation with large knots. The reconstructed design appears to represent the first stage of an ambitious castle reform project that was never completed due to the loss of Requena's frontier importance after the dynastic union of Castile and Aragon. Currently housing an Interpretation Center in the Villa neighborhood medieval enclosure, the tower offers visitors comprehensive exhibits detailing the city's history from its origins to present day, serving as both architectural monument and educational resource.
