Castillo de la Viñaza, also known as Castillo de Arenós, crowns a prominence at 730 meters above sea level in Puebla de Arenoso, overlooking the Arenós Reservoir in the Alto Mijares region. This Islamic-origin fortress dates to the 11th century and was mentioned in written records as early as 1177. The castle belonged to Abu Zayd, the last Almohad governor of Valencia, who ceded it to Christian nobility following his conversion. Two enclosures display both Islamic and Christian architectural remains, with the upper level featuring a semicircular tower with arrow slits and a square tower. Today, the castle serves as a cultural landmark designated as an Asset of Interest and a viewpoint for the reservoir.
