Castle of Palazuelos, a 15th-century fortress in Guadalajara province, exemplifies austere medieval military architecture with a square-plan design and corner towers anchored by a commanding keep. Commissioned by Íñigo López de Mendoza, Marquis of Santillana, this functional stronghold was built alongside defensive walls, earning the village its designation as the "Ávila of La Alcarria" for preserving its complete medieval walled enclosure.
