Castillo de Oria, located in the town of Oria in Almería's Almanzora valley, exemplifies Muslim military architecture from the 12th and 13th centuries. The castle features substantial remains composed of large brick walls measuring 1.70 meters in thickness, with abundant ceramic fragments embedded throughout. Access to the fortress was historically restricted to a single northern entrance, portions of whose tower still remain visible. The interior preserves walls of residential structures, while the northern enclosure wall displays deteriorated panels painted in characteristic red and white. Declared a Cultural Heritage Asset (Bien de Interés Cultural), the castle remains accessible to visitors and offers insight into the region's Islamic-era defensive systems.
