Castell de Navata consists of medieval ruins located two kilometers southwest of the village of Navata in Alt Empordà, Girona. Documented since the 11th century, it functioned within the county of Besalú, with documented pacts between local lords and the bishop of Girona between 1052 and 1072. The fortress features a large rectangular enclosure built in the 13th century, protected naturally by cliffs on one side and reinforced walls on others. The best-preserved section is the western wall with a cylindrical tower; the Romanesque chapel remains on the northern side. Later 15th-century adaptations added gun ports for firearms defense.
