The Fortín de Askorriaga is an 18th-century coastal fortification built on a cliff approximately 25 meters above sea level in the Basque region. Strategically positioned on the Uztrikotze cape overlooking Gorliz Bay, this pentagonal fort was designed to defend against maritime threats and potential pirate incursions, with cannon placements commanding the entrance to the bay. Today only scattered stone remains visible at the site, which can be accessed via hiking paths connecting to Monte Ermua, combining exploration of this military heritage with natural surroundings.
