Castillo de Manqueospese, also known as Castillo de Aunqueospese, is located in Mironcillo, Ávila, at 1,360 meters altitude overlooking the Amblés valley. Built in the 1470s and 1480s by Pedro Dávila during the consolidation of Catholic Monarchs' power in Castile, the castle features a barbican with a conopial door bearing the Dávila family shield. The fortress comprises an inner perimeter with a courtyard, stables, keep, and residential quarters. According to local legend, Don Raimundo built the castle to communicate with a beloved locked away by her father, exclaiming he would see her 'manqueospese' or 'aunqueospese.' The property passed from the Dávila house to the Medinaceli family through marriage in 1740, and now stands in ruins.
