Castle of Medinaceli stands as a medieval fortress in Soria province, built in the 9th century and rebuilt in the 15th century on an elevated site of strategic importance since pre-Roman times. Its Arabic name reflects its significance to Muslim defenders, who held it even after Christian forces took Toledo. The castle witnessed major historical events, including the death of Almanzor in 1002. Today, though not fully preserved, visitors can observe the remaining walls and main tower while enjoying panoramic views of the town and surrounding landscape. Medinaceli itself, part of the network of Spain's most beautiful villages since 2013, showcases layers of Roman, Arab, and Christian heritage.
