Sant Genís de Rocafort is a monumental Romanesque monastery complex established in Martorell in 1042 by barons Guillem II Bonfill and his wife Sicarda. Positioned atop a strategic rocky hill on the northwestern slope of the Sierra of Ataix, the fortified monastery dominated a key defensive location guarding against medieval Islamic raids. The remaining church retains a single nave with Romanesque barrel vault and ogival arching, supplemented by lateral chapels. Originally connected to Sant Miquel de Cruïlles monastery from 1282, Sant Genís suffered decline from the 14th century, earthquake damage in 1448, and eventual secularization in 1534. Archaeological artifacts from the monumental complex are preserved in Martorell's museums, documenting this significant center of medieval religious and defensive architecture.
