Fortaleza de Ledesma is a 12th-century fortress that occupies a strategic corner of Ledesma's walled town in Salamanca, originally promoted by King Fernando II of León. The current structure reflects 15th-century reforms by the Counts of Ledesma, featuring an irregular trapezoidal plan with two gateways flanked by imposing towers and a granite-built perimeter wall. Ledesma itself retains much of its medieval boundary wall and was recognized as a Heritage Asset in 2023, with the town earning designation as one of Spain's Most Beautiful Towns in 2018. The castle and surrounding historic ensemble offer visitors a well-preserved glimpse of medieval frontier architecture.
