Castell de Juià is a heavily damaged 9th- to 10th-century fortress located on a small hilltop in Juià, Girona, Catalonia. Originally measuring approximately 18 meters in length with a rectangular floor plan, the castle once stood about 11 meters high, though today only one facade remains partially preserved at 7 meters. The structure is surrounded by the remains of a medieval moat with a bridge whose arch foundations are still visible. The castle played an important role in the region's feudal organization—in 1087, Bishop Berenguer Guifred of Girona entrusted it to Bernat Geli as part of the bishopric's network of fortifications. The Juià family documented their lordship until the early 15th century, with the final historical reference dating to 1479. Following restoration and excavation by the Girona Provincial Council in 2014, the castle remains accessible to visitors interested in medieval Catalan architecture and regional history.
