Castillo de Jódar is a medieval fortress in Jaén province, originally built in 889 and strategically positioned overlooking the Moorish frontier with Granada. The castle features a distinctive double line of defence comprising an outer enclosure and inner alcázar with two large towers at opposite ends. Notable preserved elements include the Gothic Puerta del Aire, Torre Albarrana, and the main castle structure, which have survived centuries of abandonment and deterioration. Today, the castle houses the visitor centre for Sierra Mágina Natural Park and welcomes guests interested in exploring medieval military architecture and the region's complex Moorish-Christian history.
