Castillo de San Vicente stands on the southern summit of San Vicente hill (1,321 meters) in the Sierra de San Vicente region north of Toledo, built upon a 10th-century Islamic watchtower that originally guarded the strategic mountain passes. In the 13th century, Christian forces reinforced the structure with a substantial keep tower, likely during King Alfonso VIII's campaign against the Almohads at the siege of Salvatierra. Ruined since the 16th century, the site retains archaeological remains including terracotta tiles, ceramics, iron fragments, and a monolithic stone basin, along with a geodetic survey point. The castle remains an important historical landmark for the municipality and offers insight into the region's complex medieval past and defensive architecture.
