Argüeso Castle is a medieval fortress rising 979 meters in Hermandad de Campoo de Suso, Cantabria, and represents the finest example of Roqueno Castle architecture in the region. Built during the 13th to 15th centuries, it was the strongest hold of the Senioro de la Vega, defending their interests in Campoo de Suso and housing notable nobility including Leonor de la Vega, wife of Castile's Admiral. Declared a Cultural Interest Property in 1983, the castle underwent comprehensive restoration and reopened to the public in August 1999 as a cultural center hosting temporary exhibitions and regional festivities. The only interior castle of its kind in Cantabria, it remains a significant testament to the region's medieval heritage and military importance.
