Castillo de Güejar is a hilltop fortress located on Cerro del Castillejo in the municipality of Güejar Sierra, Granada. Originally built by the Romans and later occupied by Arab forces, this medieval castle once controlled the high valley of the Genil River and played a strategic role in transhumance routes toward the Alpujarras. The fortress features a triangular floor plan with multiple enclosures and preserved remains of walls and towers arranged in zigzag patterns for defensive purposes. Though substantially ruined today, the castle represents an important layer of Andalusian frontier history spanning Roman, Islamic, and Christian periods.
