Castillo de los Murones (also known as Castillo de Gestalgar) is a 12th-century fortress positioned dramatically on a cliff overlooking the Turia River in the province of Valencia. Originally constructed with possible Muslim origins, the castle was modified and enlarged after the Christian conquest to adapt for artillery defense. Its architecture comprises a rectangular keep with three stories and crenellated terrace, accompanied by three circular masonry towers at the corner positions. Designated as a Cultural Heritage Site by the Valencian Government, the fortress features historic escape tunnels that once connected the stronghold to the town and surrounding orchards, though these passages are currently sealed.
