Castillo de Encinas de Esgueva stands at the eastern edge of Valladolid province in Castilla y León, originally founded in 1394 by Diego López de Zúñiga, I lord of Béjar, as part of the Esgueva defensive line. The castle features an interior enclosure and barbican with sloped profile, moat, and drawbridge, all constructed of quality stone ashlars. Its residential character suggests more palatial than purely military purposes, reflected in its positioning within a small depression rather than a prominent hillside. Currently co-owned by the Municipality of Encinas de Esgueva and National Heritage, it is open to visitors during summer months, preserving its architectural significance as a 15th-century gem.
